Williamson Anti-inflammatory, Anti-Tumor (and more) Healing with Frankincense and Myrrh

Frankincense and myrrh, two esteemed gifts taken from the gum resins of trees - the Boswellia and the Commiphora, respectively – make amazing healing partners! Both have been tapped throughout history in perfume, incense, aromatherapy, and medicine, especially Chinese medicine. Their anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant, and more assets tackle issues with many different health conditions, many that Apple Country Chiropractic knows bother our Williamson chiropractic patients and/or loved ones who may want to understand better!

THE COMBINATION: Frankincense and Myrrh

Chinese medicine admires frankincense and myrrh for their extensively beneficial health effects. Used in combination, their anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects and notably for anti-tumor effects stopped growth of U266 multiple myeloma cells. (1) In Chinese medicine, frankincense-myrrh are parts of an anti-tumor drug for various cancers with the newest research presenting its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). How? By regulating pathological processes like cytokine-receptor binding and pathways and targeting the blood vessels that feed tumors in HCC. Tumor volume was reduced, and pathological structure was lessened with frankincense and myrrh treatment. (2) Low dose frankincense/myrrh controlled urotheilial wound healing to help symptoms of acute interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome.  (3) The frankincense/myrrh combo is a winning/healing one!

NEUROPATHIC PAIN

Apple Country Chiropractic welcomes combinations of treatments to help our Williamson chiropractic patients looking for healing. Chinese medicine treats diabetic neuropathy, a critical complication of diabetes and trigger of kidney disease, by regulating pathways involved in the glucose/lipid metabolism regulation, antioxidation, anti-inflammation, anti-fibrosis, etc. (4) Chinese medicine treatment of neuropathic pain commonly involves the frankincense-myrrh combination as it is explained as being able to activate blood and dissipate blood stasis. The combination was put to the test and found to reduce neuropathic pain likely related to neuro-inflammatory agents TLR4 and MyD88 and to averting TRPV1 and inflammatory factor expression. (5). Apple Country Chiropractic knows all this detail may not be your “thing” of wanting to know, but we want to give you the whole story if only to get to the point that frankincense-myrrh eases neuropathic pain, a great effect!
