Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
Every parent wants care for their child that is gentle, thoughtful, and focused on what they truly need. Two new studies released in September 2026 provide a more detailed look at why families take kids to the chiropractor and how parents describe the experience.
WHY FAMILIES TURN TO CHIROPRACTIC
A research team in Australia and Canada examined visits by 605 young patients, ages 17 and under, cared for by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for seeking care in each age group, suggesting that many families view chiropractic as an important part of keeping their kids healthy and active. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors identified, and teenagers accounted for nearly half of all visits. It's easy to see why: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and hours of screen time all put real demands on young spines.
FAMILIES FEEL HEARD AND VALUED
A second study followed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents rated three areas of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the care and respect offered by the chiropractor and office staff. On the whole, parents described favorable experiences across all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. Put simply, families felt heard, included in decisions, and treated with kindness, and that matters a great deal when the patient is your child.
